Teething can be horrible, or you can go through it with ease. For me, i’ve had both.
Rosie we never really noticed her teething. One day she woke up and had 2 teeth, no crying, not dribbling, not chewing on anything. She may have had the odd hour/day but nothing like Miyah. ever since Miyah was 3 month’s old, she has been teething! We have had the whole shabang, plus the sleepless nights and crying. At times I felt like such a failure. There was nothing I could do to help her. It breaks my heart to see her in so much pain so I have come up with my top tips to help your teething love.
Don’t always reach for the calpol!
Before you grab the calpol, although it might seem like a quick fix and it’s just right there, I recently read online that we as parents use way too much calpol. There are many other different things you can try to soothe the pain before you reach for the liquid paracetamol.
Out there, there is an array of different toys that you can get from different stores. You usually out them in the fridge to chill. This can help soothe your little loves sore gums. Some teething toys, don’t have to be put in the fridge but help soothe babies gums by the material they are made out of. Match Stick Monkey have some amazing teething toys you can have a look at. Miyah loves their teething monkey and I would definitely recommend you having a look at their products.
Different foods are great for teething babies, for example cold things like cucumber, and apple slices that they can really chew on will help those little mouths! Keeping it really cold before hand, but also make sure you watch the younger babies in case of choking!
There are a lot of teething gels and powders on the market, we find that the powder does best for us. But if you have tried this too, then go for calpol. Obviously I am one person, and I don’t know your child. You don’t even have to listen to me; but there are plenty of ways to help sooth your child than calpol.
*Please don’t take this as me telling you what to do, your child, you do what you seem fit. I am just going by the recent studies on calpol, which you can easily research if you feel you would like too. These are my top tips to help before you reach for the calpol!*
Do you have any tips for a teething baby?
