What I look for, when shopping online for the kids!

It’s no stranger to anyone, that when it’s 3am, and your baby has woken up for the feed; and you cant sleep what do you do?! ONLINE SHOPPING!

What i look for when

When shopping online, there is so much I look for. Its so easy for some sites to really put you off shopping with them. Shopping online for baby clothes is hard enough as it is, because sometimes you don’t know if the sizes are true to size- and if they are not true, it can be hard to return and refund. I’be been in that situation too many times! When looking for a good clothing brand online one of the very first things I look at is reviews! Reviews can tell you so much about a shop. You can see by how many ‘stars’ they have and what people say, for example people talk about how easy it is to navigate around the site and what shipping and postage is like. I always give the reviews a good stalk before I start my search for good clothes. I always look at the bad reviews too, to try and see if something is a continuing problem or it was just a one off.

Secondly I look for free or cheap returns. With a decent amount of time to send then items back after you have tried them. Nothing worse than a 1 week refund period!

Here are some of the things other people look for when ordering online!

Cass from The Diary Of A Frugal Family: I look for how easy it is to return them because the chances of them not fitting and/or the kids hating them when they put them on is pretty high with my two.

Gemma from Mummy’s Waisted says:  If it’s for my son (eldest) I try to choose unisex colours, so that I can re-use clothes for my daughter! For my daughter’s clothes, it’s about composition and ease of washing.

Victoria from Lylia Rose says: Free postage. I hate getting all the way to checkout and the postage fees being an extortionate amount and surprise, especially if I’m not buying very much for them.

Sarah from Boo Roo & Tigger Too says: A size chart – every brands clothing range is a slightly different size so bring able to see a size chart allows me to make a more informed decision as to which size to order.

Kelly from Kelly Allen Writer says:  Discounts and sizing! I always check reviews now to make sure the sizing is right for each child.

Charlotte from Cups of Charlotte says: Discount, price and availability. Sometimes I find it hard to get anything in her size which is appropriate. She is in a smaller dress size despite been tall for her age.

Georgina from Gee Gardner says:  A reasonable postage cost. I absolutely hate ordering things to checkout and find the delivery costs are nearly as much as what I’m ordering!

Louise from A Strong Coffee To Go says: Discounts/free postage and adjustable waistbands on trousers.

Suzy from Our Bucket List Lives says: If the joggers/trousers have a proper draw string waist. My boys legs are long but his waist never matches so they’re always falling down.

Victoria from The Growing Mum says: I love multi-packs to save money so I try to get things in sets if possible.

Claire from This Mummy Rocks says: Having 5 children I look for deals and multipacks. Then I look for availability and delivery options.

Vicki from Mumma And Her Monsters says: Honestly just good quality material! If it looks naff I won’t bother!

Sarah from Mummy Cat Notes says: Good deals or multi-packs, I also look for simple designs so there is no trend being followed. I also try and shop independent, there are some amazing independent shops online that offer amazing children’s clothes!

Pete from House Hold Money Savings says: Anything not too expensive. The fact is, my kids are growing so fast that most things last less than a year. I don’t think there’s much point buying things built to last.

Deborah from Country Heart & Home says:  For me it’s something different and dare I say it … photograph worthy! The kids have so many every day clothes so if I’m ordering something or asking for birthday gifts etc it will be something that stands out in a photo shoot.

Chloe from Life With The Busbys says: That I can get them twinning clothes in the same ages.

Caroline from Mummy Alarm says: I’m looking at the reviews. I want to know if the item shown is really the item I’m going to get when it comes to colour, style, fit and material. This saves me a lot of disappointment and hassle because I hate returning items. It’s such a time-consuming process and as I have the habit of forgetting posting it until it’s too late, this really helps a lot

Rachael from From Rachael Claire says: Variety! I really struggle to find lovely boys clothing. I see so many beautiful things for girls that would look just as lovely on a boy but they always have OTT girly prints on.

What do you look for when ordering clothes online?

Until next time,

I have got all the checkout so many times just let to learn the postage is extortionate, it’s so annoying! Reading reviews is a great idea and can really help you know what customer services are like if you need to send something back. It’s so annoying when you need to return something, posting in back is such a faff. I used to do a lot of middle of the night online shopping when my baby was small and didn’t know how to sleep!xx #blogcrush

    Hello ,

I saw your tweet about animals and thought I will check your website. I like it!

I love pets. I have two beautiful thai cats called Tammy(female) and Yommo(male). Yommo is 1 year older than Tommy. He acts like a bigger brother for her. 🙂
I have even created an Instagram account for them ( https://www.instagram.com/tayo_home/ ) and probably soon they will have more followers than me (kinda funny).

I have subscribed to your newsletter. 🙂

Keep up the good work on your blog.

  4. Love this! I am always rolling my eyes when I get to check out and shipping is going to cost more than the items will. I like the variety of things online but always check the reviews for quality & fit.
